Monroe County has announced plans for a county-wide property reassessment, a multi-year process with new values set to take effect in 2028. The Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® has long supported revenue-neutral, county-wide reassessments as the most equitable way to tax real property within a municipality. Below is an overview of GLVR’s policy statement on county-wide reassessment:

• REALTORS® believe that all property assessments should be fair, realistic and equitable. The Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® support countywide property reassessments conducted on regularly scheduled intervals (i.e. every few years) to ensure up-to-date and accurate assessed values for all properties. GLVR encourages the following policies be considered as part of any countywide reassessment:
  • After the initial countywide reassessment, future reassessments should be conducted at regularly scheduled intervals (i.e. every few years).
  • Millage rate increases should be limited in the years subsequent to the countywide reassessment.
  • Policies must be in place to protect vulnerable homeowners who may experience extenuating circumstances as a result of a countywide reassessment.
