Are you selling your home? Consider how it looks from the outside. Your home’s exterior is the first thing potential buyers will see, and increasing your curb appeal helps leave buyers with a favorable first impression.
“Curb appeal can make a big difference in how buyers see your home,” said Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® 2024 President Lori Campbell. “A home that looks well-kept from the outside will attract curious buyers who want to see more, and it shows them the home has been well-maintained.”
Traditionally, the housing market picks up during the summer with more buyers looking for new homes. Homesellers can take various steps to increase their curb appeal in the warmer months, such as completing landscaping including mowing, weeding, mulching and trimming. Summer is also the perfect time to plant or place colorful flowers to make your home feel brighter and more welcoming to potential buyers.
Spring cleaning isn’t just for the inside. Consider also cleaning your home’s exterior to entice buyers. This may include pressure washing mildew, cleaning out gutters, scrubbing the walkway, sweeping the porch and washing windows.
Other things homesellers can do to increase curb appeal include resealing the driveway, painting the front door, placing porch décor, incorporating outdoor lighting, displaying the house numbers and replacing the mailbox.
“You can increase curb appeal in many ways, ranging in cost and time required,” Campbell noted. “Ask your REALTOR® how you can best increase curb appeal based on your home’s current state, your budget and your ideal homeselling timeline.
