The Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® on December 20, 2024, donated $4,500 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Each year, the president of the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® selects an organization or charity of choice to support. 2024 President Lori Campbell, an Associate Broker and REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Heritage Real Estate in Bethlehem, Pa., chose NAMI, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization.
In selecting NAMI as a beneficiary, Campbell reflected on the decision behind her long-awaited choice.
“There are so many worthy charities and organizations in need of support,” Campbell said. “However, since COVID, studies have shown a significant rise in mental health disorders. Unfortunately, many people either lack healthcare or have plans that don’t cover treatments like therapy. That’s why organizations like NAMI are so vital. They provide free resources and support to anyone seeking help — whether it’s for themselves or for family members and friends dealing with mental health challenges.”
Campbell continued, “There are several members of GLVR who have been devastatingly affected by suicide in their families and, while the stigma of mental illness still exists, it is my hope that with GLVR’s donation, more community outreach and education can be done to combat mental illness and improve mental health in our communities.”
NAMI, which has a chapter in the Lehigh Valley, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy. The organization advocates at the county, state and national levels for non-discriminatory access to quality healthcare, housing, education and employment for people with mental illness.
