In response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® is providing the following guidance to help REALTORS® — and consumers — respond to the coronavirus’s impact on the real estate industry. If you scroll down a bit, you will find a few hyperlocal FAQs that may be of particular interest in REALTORS® living and working in the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Inspection Information for Local Municipalities

As more municipalities provide inspection processes, the information will be added here. While GLVR staff is working hard to obtain inspection information from all municipalities in a three-county footprint, members who obtain information on a municipality not listed below are urged to forward that information to so that it can be confirmed and then added to the list.

The City of Allentown has provided a document that explains its inspection process in the age of COVID-19. That document is AVAILABLE HERE.

The City of Bethlehem is scheduling inspections and will begin performing inspections starting May 26, 2020.

The city will be following the new real estate guidance and will only allow three people in a property at any one time. The three people allowed in the property includes the real estate professional and the inspector. If there is more than one occupant / client present during the inspection. they will have to leave the property during the inspection.

The Bethlehem Township Commissioners voted to waive the inspection requirement for property transfers through the emergency declaration. At this point, it is in effect until further notice.

In order to assist folks at the closing table, the township is providing a letter stating that the inspection requirement has been waived temporarily. To obtain a letter, members should provide the property address and date of closing to Matthew Lubitz, Zoning Officer, at

The City of Easton is performing inspections. During the inspection, no more than one person is permitted to accompany the inspector, that person is required to wear PPE, and truthfully answer “NO” to the following questions:

  1. Have you traveled outside of the USA in the last 14 days?
  2. Have you traveled within the USA in the last 14 days?
  3. Have you been on a cruise ship in the last 14 days?
  4. Have you been in close contact with anyone who has traveled domestically or internationally in the last 14 days?
  5. Have you attended any events or gatherings with more than 10 people in the last 14 days?
  6. Have you been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19?
  7. Have you been asked to self-quarantine?
  8. Do you currently have a fever or lower respiratory symptoms such as a cough or shortness of breath?
  9. Do you have a new onset of cold symptoms such as cough and runny nose?

If anyone at the inspection appears to be sick with a cough, cold, or flu-like symptoms, the inspection will be canceled.

Whitehall Township is not scheduling new CO inspections at this time. They are working through a backlog of outstanding CO re-inspections.

Whitehall is working on a re-instatement date to resume resale CO inspections with the guidelines set by the Wolf administration. The township is advising new applicants to submit applications with payment in order to get on a list for scheduling.
