U.S. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie met with members of the Greater Lehigh Valley REALTORS® (GLVR) last week for a roundtable discussion focused on federal housing legislation, including the 21st Century Road to Housing Act, and the challenges facing today’s housing market.

GLVR brought together a diverse group of REALTORS® for the conversation, including Republicans, Democrats and Independents, with representation from across the association’s footprint.

The roundtable provided an opportunity for Congressman Mackenzie to hear directly from REALTORS® who work every day with buyers, sellers and property owners and have firsthand insight into the realities of the housing market.

Members shared their perspectives on a wide range of issues affecting housing and real estate, including efforts to unlock housing inventory, mortgage portability, tax reform, the challenges of navigating a patchwork of municipal regulations, issues within the appraisal industry, the unpredictability of homeowners insurance and more.

Conversations like these provide an important opportunity for REALTORS® to share their experiences from the field and help policymakers better understand how legislation and other policy decisions can affect housing opportunities, affordability and the real estate market.
